1844 Original Nauvoo Temple Stone – Zions Mercantile general store sits on almost two acres of land in right across the street from the Nauvoo Temple in downtown Historic Nauvoo. When the basement for the new Nauvoo Temple was being dug this land had no building on it. Since our location would be a short & easy trip for trucks hauling dirt we were asked if the workers could off load dirt on this lot. Among the nearly two hundred loads of dirt were many large & small pieces of the old original Nauvoo temple. Some are on display around the property and in this store. We have recently begun creating these beautiful mounted stones from the original Nauvoo temple. 100% of the money raised from these historic stones is used to maintain & add to the beauty of this special corner. We are grateful to any who would purchase one of these remarkable keepsakes as it helps in a special way to add to the beauty of Historic Nauvoo.
Each stone sits on a hand-stained wood piece about 5″ long. Each stone varies in size
but are generally 2″ wide and 4″ tall. Each piece is significant in size – these are not small
chips of stone. We are confident you’ll treasure this timeless keepsake!

OUR COMMITMENT TO BE IN HARMONY WITH THE REVEALED NAME OF THE CHURCH:
President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the following statement regarding the name of the Church.
"The Lord has impressed upon my mind the importance of the name He has revealed for His Church, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have work before us to bring ourselves in harmony with His will."
The Nauvoo Gallery has been working to put our website and our gallery store in Nauvoo, Illinois in harmony with this important revelation. It’s been customary for websites like ours to use terms like LDS Art, LDS Temple Art, LDS pictures or Mormon Art when describing our products for Google and other search engines. Our intention has been to help people find what has been termed as LDS products & LDS Gifts. It took many many months to build and add products to this website using those relevant and popular search terms - please bear with us as we still find each instance where we can better be in harmony with President Nelson’s message. Thank you for your patience and your kindness during this process
