Elder W. Craig Zwick talked in conference about his family’s experience one summer at The Special Olympics with one of their sons. “The Special Olympics are held each year to allow people with disabilities to enjoy friendly competition. We observed that as the runners were taking their positions for the fifty-yard dash, they were being encouraged by special friends affectionately known as huggers. Seconds before the start of the race, these huggers took their places at the finish line of the race. It didn’t matter who crossed the finish line first. What did matter was that every runner completed the race and that every runner received a congratulatory hug. Both the courageous runners and the caring huggers taught important principles of truth.
The Lord spoke in plainness, “Be faithful and diligent in keeping the commandments of God, and I will encircle thee in the arms of my love” (D&C 6:20). We all want to feel the comfort of the Savior’s embrace.” As each of us seeks inspiration on how to be instruments in the hands of the Lord, we can feel His loving embrace and help those around us feel enlarged and embraced as well.
Mandy Jane Williams combines art and photography together to create amazing and unique images. Becoming a wife and mother has helped her find herself as an artist. “Little things stand out to you in daily life and you are able to notice them with your artistic eyes. From the way the rising sun catches the eyelashes of a sleeping baby to the look on a child’s face when Daddy comes home, all of these are an inspiration and a blessing.” We became acquainted with her as we studied and enjoyed her books, “ Walking with the Women of the Old Testament” and “Walking with the Women of the New Testament.” Since then, she has also released Walking with the Women of the Book of Mormon and is currently working with Heather Farrell on “Walking with the Women of the Doctrine and Covenants.” She keeps busy with her husband and six children, while creating beautiful art and serving her family and the Lord.
OUR COMMITMENT TO BE IN HARMONY WITH THE REVEALED NAME OF THE CHURCH:
President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the following statement regarding the name of the Church.
"The Lord has impressed upon my mind the importance of the name He has revealed for His Church, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have work before us to bring ourselves in harmony with His will."
The Nauvoo Gallery has been working to put our website and our gallery store in Nauvoo, Illinois in harmony with this important revelation. It’s been customary for websites like ours to use terms like LDS Art, LDS Temple Art, LDS pictures or Mormon Art when describing our products for Google and other search engines. Our intention has been to help people find what has been termed as LDS products & LDS Gifts. It took many many months to build and add products to this website using those relevant and popular search terms - please bear with us as we still find each instance where we can better be in harmony with President Nelson’s message. Thank you for your patience and your kindness during this process
