Feather River California Temple Open House

The public open house for the Feather River California Temple will begin on Saturday, August 19, 2023, and through Saturday, September 9, excluding Sundays.

 

The temple will be dedicated on Sunday, October 8, in two sessions: 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will dedicate the temple.

Before the public open house, a media day will be held Tuesday, August 15. Invited guests will also tour the Feather River California Temple from Wednesday, August 16, through Friday, August 18.

The dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to all units in the Feather River California Temple district. Additional details regarding the temple dedication will be announced locally as the event approaches.

The 38,000-square-foot temple is located at 1470 Butte House Road in Yuba City, California. A new meetinghouse and distribution center have also been built next to the temple to meet the needs of Latter-day Saints throughout the area.

The Feather River California Temple was first announced by Church President Russell M. Nelson in October 2018. Including Feather River, there are 10 temples in California, the most of any state besides Utah. There are seven temples operating in Fresno, Los Angeles, Newport Beach, Oakland, Redlands, Sacramento, and San Diego. A temple in Modesto has been announced and one in Yorba Linda is currently under construction. They serve nearly 735,000 Latter-day Saints in California in over 1,180 congregations.

Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple Site Released

The Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple will be built at 18 Avenida, Zona 4, El Terrero, Huehuetenango, Guatemala. Plans call for a single-story building of approximately 10,787 square feet.

This will be the city’s first temple and the fifth in the country. The Guatemala City Guatemala Temple, dedicated in December 1984, was the first temple built in Central America and just the fourth built in Latin America. The Quetzaltenango Guatemala Temple was dedicated in December 2011. The Cobán Guatemala Temple and Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple are currently under construction.

The Huehuetenango Guatemala Temple was first announced in October 2022 by President Nelson. The first Latter-day Saint missionaries arrived in Guatemala in 1947. Today, Guatemala is home to more than 280,000 Latter-day Saints in over 430 congregations.

Rendering of Tampa Florida Temple Released

 

 

An artist’s rendering of the Tampa Florida Temple has been released. The location of this house of the Lord, 4806 Bell Shoals Road in Valrico, Florida, was announced on October 31, 2022.

Latter-day Saints consider temples to be houses of the Lord and the most sacred places of worship on earth. Temples differ from the Church’s meetinghouses (chapels). All are welcome to attend Sunday worship services and other weekday activities at local meetinghouses. The primary purpose of temples is for faithful members of the Church of Jesus Christ to participate in sacred ceremonies, such as marriages, which unite families forever, and proxy baptisms on behalf of deceased ancestors who did not have the opportunity to be baptized while living.
