Church Leaders Offer Tributes to Mothers

Mother’s Day celebrated around the world
People in many countries around the world are honoring their mothers on Sunday, May 14, 2023.
Elder Uchtdorf expressed his admiration for his wife, Harriet.
“For 60 years, I have had a front-row seat to experience how my dear wife Harriet has confidently lived her life as a wife, mother, and grandmother,” Elder Uchtdorf said. “Even more importantly, she has courageously been a valiant disciple of Jesus Christ.”
Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson turned her thoughts to Mother Eve on the Church of Jesus Christ social media channels.
“I love the example of Eve, and the legacy of righteousness she left me, and all of her daughters. As a mother of sons, daughter of God, and disciple of Jesus Christ, I know that I can’t go at it alone,” President Johnson said.
“As daughters of heavenly parents, we are all mothers,” explained Sister J. Anette Dennis of the Relief Society General Presidency.
In a video message, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles discussed the respect the Savior had for His mother during His mortal ministry.
Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles spoke about his wife, Rosana’s, dedication to her family as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Young Women General President Bonnie H. Cordon said her mother has a passion for learning.
Primary General President Susan H. Porter remembered the sacrifice of her grandmother.
“I am grateful for my grandmother and for mothers all over the world who do hard things every day so that their children may have the opportunity for a better life,” President Porter said.
