The Purpose of the LDS Pioneer Trek
Many Latter-day Saints visit the Pioneer Trek Historic sites in in various locations. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints encourages youth and adult leaders to participate in Pioneer Trek to experience firsthand the faith and determination of the early Mormon pioneers.
Description of Pioneer Trek
LDS Pioneer Trek is an activity where the LDS youth reenact some of the faith-promoting experiences of the early Mormon pioneers. They discover some of the challenges had by those Mormon pioneers who journeyed to the Salt Lake Valley in the mid-1800s. LDS Youth are often organized into groups and wear 1800 era pioneer trek clothing. They also experience pulling handcarts and discussing the faith of those who made the journey to Zion.
