President Hinckley's Bookends Quote Art
The Nauvoo Pageant Bookends Dedication - Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley: Delivered each night at the end of the Nauvoo Pageant this touching, beautiful quote is played by audio over the sound system speakers for all to hear. It brings tears of sweet memories to all in attendance.
"Today, facing west, on the high bluff overlooking the city of Nauvoo, thence across the Mississippi, and over the plains of Iowa, there stands Joseph’s temple, a magnificent house of God. Here in theSalt Lake Valley, facing east to that beautiful temple in Nauvoo, stands Brigham’s temple, the Salt Lake Temple. They look toward one another as bookends between which there are volumes that speak of the suffering, the sorrow, the sacrifice, even the deaths of thousands who made the long journey from the Mississippi River to the valley of the Great Salt Lake."
This beautiful reminder of sacrifice and hard work is a wonderful addition to any home or office.

SOME BACKGROUND REGARDING THIS WORK OF ART
The Nauvoo Pageant is a beautiful stage production that plays most nights a week in the summertime in beautiful Nauvoo, Illinois. The pageant tells the story of early members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who settled and built a temple in Nauvoo. The story shows how those Latter-day Saints fled to Nauvoo to escape religious persecution and within five years, the people transformed a swamp in Illinois into a city that rivaled Chicago in size and population. The pageant ends each night with the playing of this quote from President Gordon B. Hinckley.
OUR COMMITMENT TO BE IN HARMONY WITH THE REVEALED NAME OF THE CHURCH:
On August 16th, 2018 President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released the following statement regarding the name of the Church.
“The Lord has impressed upon my mind the importance of the name He has revealed for His Church, even The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have work before us to bring ourselves in harmony with His will. “
The Church has since released guidelines stating the use of Mormon or LDS as a substitute for the name of the the church should be avoided, but such use in proper names such as - The Book of Mormon or when used as an adjective in historical expressions such as - The Mormon Trail - LDS Business College - Mormon Tabernacle Choir should be considered as the correct use.
The Nauvoo Gallery has been working to put our website and our gallery store in Nauvoo, Illinois in harmony with this important revelation. It’s been customary for websites like ours to use terms like LDS Art, LDS Temple Art, LDS pictures or Mormon Art when describing our products for Google and other search engines. Our intention has been to help people find what has been termed as LDS products & LDS Gifts. It took many many months to build and add products to this website using those relevant and popular search terms - please bear with us as it may take a few months still to find each instance where we can better be in harmony with President Nelson’s message. Thank you for your patience and your kindness during this process
