"Personalized 1840 Nauvoo Map" - Add your own personal touch to this historic Nauvoo Map. The land & records office in Nauvoo will give you specific details about land your family owned in Nauvoo. This information can be added to this map for an amazing family history piece hanging in your home. Family dates, vacations, reunions can also be added.

July 1842, Elder Willard Richards delivered source materials for a Nauvoo city map to Mr. J. Childs in New York City. The finished lithograph included Gustavus Hills’s street layout of Nauvoo, Maudsley’s profile portrait of Joseph Smith in Nauvoo Legion uniform, and a rendering of the Nauvoo Temple by architect William Weeks.

Brigham Young advertised finished copies of this Map for sale in May 1844: "Just received from New York the long looked for Maps of the City of Nauvoo." Although the engraver has taken liberties with the original image, Sutcliffe's role as “delineator” (one who portrays by drawing) is verified by the words "S. Maudsley del. 1842" inscribed below the table. This early design of the Nauvoo Temple underwent several revisions before the building was completed in 1846.
